Its been far too long, but its been worth it. One full year in the making, commemorating our five year anniversary, AGE is our most massive release yet! With nearly one hundred of our most drop dead gorgeous submissions to date, Age truly represents a new era in Evokes history.
We had to make some tough calls along the way. With the v5 site stuck in development hell and concerns over stagnation in the group running rampant, we decided that if we were going to innovate and truly rise back up from the ashes, back onto the forefront of online art, we were going to have to take the time to do it right.
And we did.
A brand new, beautiful website powered on a completely new engine written with CakePHP is a standing testament to this fact. Coupled with a custom set of collaboration tools for Evoke members on the backend designed to push our next releases beyond anything youve ever seen, this is our refutation to those speculating about our collective. No were not gone, were very far from it.
I would personally like to thank Ben White (~Arklo), Toby Peterson (sum-1), and Matt Dobson (~sugarstack) for their invaluable help and assistance in making this new release possible I could not have coded this website by myself. And a big thank you to all the admins, members, contributors, and supporters who have been with us over the years. Making an online art collective, founded by a few teenagers, last for five years is no trivial task.
And with this release, were showing you why well be here for five more.
With that, go on in and enjoy this release. Read some of the interviews! Theyve all been reformatted to make the experience more engaging and dynamic. Download some wallpapers, fill out an app if you so choose, have a blast! Big props to Aaron Campbell aka Ecstatic (=Ecstatic-ectsy) for earning the featured artist position on such a colossally important release!
Pardon the cliché, but the new age truly is just beginning!
Thanks for your support,
Ted Yavuzkurt, Evoke-founder/Site-Director
P.S. I apologize if you run into any bugs. We're still hammering out the new site and there's still much work to be done, but I've been coding for 16 hours today and can't fix anything else tonight!
